Eventually Ridden Conwy Mountain

(Myself, Kelly, Dave C, Claire B and Martin F)
Very Quick Post

So this was a ride that I have wanted to d for a little while now. Before the snow Kelly and some colleagues had been going for pre-work MTB rides. I was quite jealous because I had been wanting to do the rides but also, we were leaving the house at the same time. The rides seemed to be more of a good way to start a work day, with the bonus of sausage butties for breakfast.

They had been to a couple of places that were on my list and when kelly had a call on Tuesday to see if she wanted to go on a ride, I also tagged along. Conwy Mountain. I was pretty excited, we were picked up at 7.45am and were riding by about 8.30am up the sychnant pass from conwy. Just before the top there is a double track of left, past a gate (no need to stop), slightly up hill still and then of to the right a thiner but not single track climb takes you up steeply over a couple of tricky rocky sections (Well Done Claire for being the only one not to come off). Back to double track and the climb continues right up until there is an obvious right hand fork, past a small Llyn on the left. Swoop down and round double track for an all to short time to a gate on the right, through the gate and at the junction take the main track down the middle, muddy in parts and some of the puddles you never know just how deep they are going to be. a very short (5m) lump to climb followed by a left on green lushes grass lets you roll, effortlessly gaining speed to a right 90deg corner followed by a hairpin left. This final descent leads you down to a gate and the sychnant pass. If its not gone well for someone, turn right uphill for 2mins and its downhill all the way to the car.

If your loving it, continue over the road and onto a tarmac sufaced road which has a little kick in its tail, follow the double track round towards conwy mountain and then through a gate, up a short hill and down trending rightwards. this double track will now take you all the way DOWN to the 'Mountain Road' probably almost 2 km of descent. There is no technical sections but there is some loose rocks dotted about the place and some leafy sections. In the wet as it was yesterday the mud makes you feel like your dancing/sliding about an bit but its OK. I enjoyed it but i think with a little more thought tothe route it coul be VERY good. Im going back but im going to change it.

If this is the first route you do in the area it is a good one to do, keep your eyes open because the views are fantastic. Claire had a camera so if i get those photos, you may get to see them.

See the routes tab for other MTB routes
